Welcome to Mayall Road!

We are a street of approximately 200 residences and 150 children. Every year we celebrate our children with a street party in which everyone can participate and feel proud of their neighbourhood. Throughout the year there clubs, street cinemas, baby groups and much more, all of which is posted on this site and our mailing list. Come join us a this year's street party or wander down and take in Mayall Road's good vibes.

Windrush Square Opening Events

This is a brief summary of activities from Alan Piper, Hon. Secretary of the Brixton Society, to inaugurate the enlarged Square over next weekend.

Friday 26 February:

During the afternoon, I am running some short tours of historic features in and around the Square, hopefully with Joyce Bellamy of the Metropolitan Public Gardens Association.  Starting point will be the marquee set up in the Square. Times are as follows:

  • 12 noon – Glenbrook Primary School party;
  • 12-45 pm – General tour open to the public*;
  • 1-30 pm – Clapham Manor Primary School party;
  • 2-15 pm – Fenstanton Primary School party.

*A longer walk over Rush Common generally is planned for July.

Saturday 27 February:

The Society is running a stall in the marquee on the square from 1 pm to 5 pm. We will be sharing the marquee with several other organisations, including Black Cultural Archives, Spacemakers and Friends of Brixton Market. According to Lambeth Life, some Family Art & Craft workshops are also being run during the day.

If you have volunteered to help staff our stall, check times and arrangements with Bill Linskey on (020) 7274 3835 or wjdcl@globalnet.co.uk

Similarly for FBM arrangements, check with ben@friendsofbrixtonmarket.org

Sunday 28 February:

We are not involved in the Sunday programme (some of us will need a rest by then!) but live music and dance performances are promised.

Alan Piper, Hon. Secretary
