Welcome to Mayall Road!

We are a street of approximately 200 residences and 150 children. Every year we celebrate our children with a street party in which everyone can participate and feel proud of their neighbourhood. Throughout the year there clubs, street cinemas, baby groups and much more, all of which is posted on this site and our mailing list. Come join us a this year's street party or wander down and take in Mayall Road's good vibes.

Proposed Community Art Project for Mayall Road

Dear Mayall Road Residents,

My name is Joel Parkes, and i am a community artist working with the street party organisers to source funds to carry out a mural on the church wall on mayall road as part of this year’s street party. as a community artist, i would like to work with residents from the local area, from children to seniors, to gain ideas and designs to create the final design. i will then work it up into a finished sketch and further community events will be held to look at the design and suggest changes. once we have reached a decision, the mural will be painted by artists and the community to be unveiled at the street party this year.
However there is another side to this mural. apart from being a way for people to become involved in the street party leading up to the event, we hope to document this year’s creative activities, to secure further funding for future years, to fund not only the running of the street party, but to create opportunities throughout the year to hold creative events, workshops and festival meetings, which will all inform the creative and festive side of the party.
for instance workshops could be held for more murals, creating costumes for a parade, samba drumming classes for music etc. and anything else appropriate to making the spirit of the event grow and develop. our wish is that in creating opportunities such as the mural, we may be able to provide activity throughout the year, with the party as the pinnacle of our common endeavours.
the greatest part of all this activity will be that the community will make stronger links with each other, we have a wealth of artists and creatives in the area, as well as resources such as community centres, youth clubs etc. all crying out for increased activity and results which everyone can enjoy.
we are currently trying to source funds for materials and labour for the mural however, i would very much like to start getting to know people in the area who would be interested in sharing their abilities, time or interest. there will be many opportunities for artists to work and we want to source skilled people from within the community who may have a hand in whatever future situation these efforts produce.
I will be at the meeting this monday, so please feel free to discuss any aspect of this with me, and remember to think of other people who may be interested in getting involved. you can contact me on 07539 798 100 or joelparkes2000@yahoo.com or alex Mackay
